Morbius: Directed by Daniel Espinosa. With Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris. Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead. I remember when word came out that Sony was going to make this movie, then they hired Jared Leto in the main role, I formed a picture of what I thought the final product would look like, and with some very minor exceptions, this is exactly what I thought it would be, for better or worse. The actors are present, there’s music, some...
The Kids in the Hall: Created by Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, Scott Thompson. With Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney. The iconic Canadian sketch comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall return from the dead with a reboot of their ground-breaking sketch series. Remember these guys? They had a tv show back in the day, then did absolutely nothing since then. Sure, there was a fever dream in which people thought there was a movie or something, but that never happened. I’m glad they’re back, this renewed series is on Amazon is well worth...
Halo: Created by Steven Kane, Kyle Killen. With Pablo Schreiber, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray. Aliens threaten human existence in an epic 26th-century showdown. TV series based on the video game ‘Halo.’ The broad strokes of the franchise are here, and there’s definitely a whole bunch of stuff that I recognize from the videos games, but most of what I recognize are the long plotlines from the books, which has to be absolutely maddening for anyone that didn’t read nearly every single one of them. There’s also a ton here that’s just unique to the televison series and it’s...
The G Word with Adam Conover: Created by Jon Cohen, Adam Conover, Jon Wolf. With Nicole Randall Johnson, James Austin Johnson, Sierra Katow, Carol Herman. Follows Conover introducing the civil servants who make it work and take a satirical look at its shortcomings. You may remember Adam Conover from “Adam Ruins Everything” a series that I believe started on College Humor and graduated to TBS, running from 2015 to 2019. It was basically Penn and Teller’s “Bullshit” but with much more hand holding research and documented sources, explaining the ins and outs about everything from office rights to circumcision. “The...
Sent another well loved pet across the rainbow bridge today, Baby Cat was about 14 years old and was a fantastic nap buddy and all around good cat. She’s left some marks on our lives (and our door frame!), and I’m never going to forget her. She’s the last of my original animals that I had before I got married, but is definitely not our last cat, we have 8 more in the house right now, four ours and four fosters! If you’d like to give a donation to ECAH Animals in her name, I’d greatly appreciate it.
Constantine: Directed by Francis Lawrence. With Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Djimon Hounsou. Supernatural exorcist and demonologist John Constantine helps a policewoman prove her sister’s death was not a suicide, but something more. With all due respect to the other actors that have played the Hellblazer, this is likely my favorite version of the character, with my favorite story that the he’s been in on screen. Sure he’s not british, sure he’s not blonde, but he’s got the same middle finger waving attitude you’d hope for from someone that’s just angry at the state of things and having to...
The Morning Show: Created by Jay Carson, Kerry Ehrin. With Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass. An inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the men and women who carry out this daily televised ritual. With the acting as good as or better than the fantastic first season, unfortunately the writing isn’t as impressive as it could have been with some well telegraphic and silly things happening towards the end of season 2. It was again only 10 episodes long, but several of...
Our three foster kittens have been eating this stuff, I’m a fan of the name. Target had a $20 lego sale, so i bought a couple sets! I now have a total of four batmobiles I think. There was a ’89 one somewhere in my old work office, I’m not 100% sure it made it home with me, and if it did, where it is now. Odo is a long cat. This little guy is alive and just fine, he scared the carp out of me when I was cleaning my car. When I first found him, he was wedged...
He didn t get onto the most lucrative interstellar mission for the money Paxon came to be reunited with the woman he loves. But his high-stakes journey takes hi A great but short story about humanity turning on itself for profit. It’s a familiar story, but they do a well enough job here I’d be interested in seeing a follow up. Buy On Amazon!
Ambulance: Directed by Michael Bay. With Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Eiza González, Garret Dillahunt. Two robbers steal an ambulance after their heist goes awry. This is about as refined of a movie you’re ever going to get from Michael Bay, it’s obvious that he’s been refining his drone work, and his pairing with Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen, and IIEiza González are nearly a match made in heaven, as they’re apparently able to take his direction without turning it into pure camp. There’s a specific demographic that Bay aims for, I’m somewhat in it, but I feel he’s really done...
