The Morning Show

The Morning Show: Created by Jay Carson, Kerry Ehrin. With Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass. An inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the men and women who carry out this daily televised ritual. With the acting as good as or better than the fantastic first season, unfortunately the writing isn’t as impressive as it could have been with some well telegraphic and silly things happening towards the end of season 2. It was again only 10 episodes long, but several of...

Cat food, LEGO, Big Batteries, An Opossum, and Cat Posers

Our three foster kittens have been eating this stuff, I’m a fan of the name. Target had a $20 lego sale, so i bought a couple sets! I now have a total of four batmobiles I think.  There was a ’89 one somewhere in my old work office, I’m not 100% sure it made it home with me, and if it did, where it is now. Odo is a long cat. This little guy is alive and just fine, he scared the carp out of me when I was cleaning my car.  When I first found him, he was wedged...

Deep Gravity

He didn t get onto the most lucrative interstellar mission for the money Paxon came to be reunited with the woman he loves. But his high-stakes journey takes hi A great but short story about humanity turning on itself for profit. It’s a familiar story, but they do a well enough job here I’d be interested in seeing a follow up. Buy On Amazon!

Ambulance

Ambulance: Directed by Michael Bay. With Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Eiza González, Garret Dillahunt. Two robbers steal an ambulance after their heist goes awry. This is about as refined of a movie you’re ever going to get from Michael Bay, it’s obvious that he’s been refining his drone work, and his pairing with Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen, and IIEiza González are nearly a match made in heaven, as they’re apparently able to take his direction without turning it into pure camp. There’s a specific demographic that Bay aims for, I’m somewhat in it, but I feel he’s really done...

Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story

Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story: With Roger Ordish, Mark Lawson, Meirion Jones, Alison Bellamy. Jimmy Savile once ruled the airwaves with a quirky persona and good works. So how did this icon manage to hide his many alleged bad deeds for so long? I only heard of this guy after the news broke about his unfortunate life choices and the hundreds of people that he took advantage of. The damming part of the story is that of all the police that were contacted and were made aware of what he was doing, not a single one of them got...

Severance

Severance: Created by Dan Erickson. With Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman. Mark leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives. When a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it begins a journey to discover the truth about their jobs. Delightfully atmospheric and mind boggling weird, my only complaint is that season one doesn’t wrap up the story, so we’ll have to wait for season two to (maybe?) wrap up this strange story of people living two lives inside of one body. Trickster

Trickster: Created by Tony Elliott, Michelle Latimer. With Joel Oulette, Crystle Lightning, Kalani Queypo, Anna Lambe. Jared is an Indigenous teen struggling to keep his dysfunctional family above water. When he starts seeing strange things – talking ravens, doppelgängers, skin monsters – his already chaotic life is turned upside down. Only six episodes long and released 2 years ago, so there’s not likely going to be a sequel, but that’s just fine, this mini series did everything I could hope for with the subject matter, going places that I didn’t expect with a story that seems goofy on the face...

Popeye

Popeye: Directed by Robert Altman. With Robin Williams, Shelley Duvall, Ray Walston, Paul Dooley. The adventures of the famous sailor man and his friends in the seaside town of Sweethaven. I understand that you don’t always get to pick your first role as an actor, and you definitely don’t get to have editing calls, but this film is a complete a waste of time, potential, and possibility. This is the type of thing that people can point to and say “this is the movie that set back comic book adaptations by 40 years”. The casting is nearly perfect in every...

Songbird

Songbird: Directed by Adam Mason. With K.J. Apa, Sofia Carson, Craig Robinson, Bradley Whitford. In 2024 a pandemic ravages the world and its cities. Centering on a handful of people as they navigate the obstacles currently hindering society: disease, martial law, quarantine, and vigilantes. Per wikipedia, the film was conceived of, written, produced, filmed, and released all within a few months of the global covid-19 pandemic breaking national borders and infecting hundreds of millions and killing millions of those that were unable to fight off the infection. The movie feels as crass as you would expect, with a barebones story...

Moon Knight

Moon Knight: Created by Doug Moench. With Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, May Calamawy, F. Murray Abraham. Steven Grant discovers he’s been granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. But he soon finds out that these newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life. I was somewhat tentative about this show, but figured that Oscar Isaac would be able to pull it off. They were only given six episodes to do the story in, so while the entire thing feels rushed, the full story is laid out, though there are a TON of unanswered...
