I was gonna send an eStore-wang measuring photo, but I hadn’t figured how to sub-share a photo on this domain.
With the lock down of 2020, my brother’s eStore that normally sells 15 items over a weekend exploded as the cheaper companies that sold puzzles sold out out of their stock. Folks that were stuck at home bored, were willing to pay his exorbitant prices (they were high margin because there was only two people; stuff that should have sold for $12 went for $24 or $28). He had to shut off his order process because we had a backlog of 400+ orders.
The store started wholly because my old man had bought 4 pallets of CDs and DVDs wholesale (some 30 years ago) and found that mining the pile for the gemstones was actually profitable. It was doing good 2000-2005 just before downloading became easy (like 6 employees filling orders). Now they sell puzzles and candles since that cannot be downloaded; only a year ago they got rid of all their VHS because he’d get like one sale a month. What they had in CDs, I’d recognize maybe recognize two dozen titles, and would only want like three. (They have an 8 foot pallet full of Vince Neil going solo).
We had to relocate last September ’24, and we moved one-hundred-thirty pallets. Granted a third of the product should have gone to the landfill if we really wanted to spend the time.
Find. Your. Niche. Product. Sell only the things you understand. Also find a method that allows you keep track of your product. Under counting means lost possible sales; Overcounting means pissed off customers when you have to cancel. My brother’s store has this problems that when my old man forced my brother to inventory a new pallet, he provided an “inventory list” that had little basis in reality. There is titles that do not exist where the inventory lists, and then there are pallets that produce titles that show quantity zero.
my niche product is comic books protectors: bags and boards!
