Team-Ups and Crossovers (Wearing the Cape Book 6)

Astra was done traveling, or so she thought. Benched for physical rehab and retraining, she’s in LA dating movie stars (not as fun as you might think) when the Department of Superhuman Affairs asks for help catching a superhuman serial killer. When what should be a simple job develops…complications, she finds herself catapulted into another reality—one with its own history and superheroes! As her teammates scramble to find out where she’s gone and what’s become of her, Astra embarks on a cross-world journey in search of a way home. It’s going to be a long trip.Team-Ups and Crossovers follows Astra...

The Other Guys

The Other Guys: Directed by Adam McKay. With Will Ferrell, Derek Jeter, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes. Two mismatched New York City detectives seize an opportunity to step up like the city’s top cops, whom they idolize, only things don’t quite go as planned. It’s a comedy that hasn’t aged as well as I would have liked, but I think that sums up most of Will Ferrell’s work from the time period. Buy On Amazon!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition): Directed by Zack Snyder. With Amy Adams, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg. Batman is manipulated by Lex Luthor to fear Superman. Superman´s existence is meanwhile dividing the world and he is framed for murder during an international crisis. The heroes clash and force the neutral Wonder Woman to reemerge. This is the better of the two versions, but there are still so many things about this film that just do not work for me. Foremost among them is Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, which doesn’t work at all and the casting...

Man of Steel

Man of Steel: Directed by Zack Snyder. With Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane. An alien child is evacuated from his dying world and sent to Earth to live among humans. His peace is threatened when other survivors of his home planet invade Earth. The after credit scene of “Black Adam” prompted me to watch this again, but this time in 4k. It wasn’t until the end credits that I noticed that the subwoofer was unplugged, so while it was a great viewing, it definitely lacked some depth. The soundtrack is still the greatest part of this film,...

Black Adam

Black Adam: Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. With Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo. Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods–and imprisoned just as quickly–Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world. I stand by my assertion that this is still one of the best DCU films that they’ve released in the current iteration of the franchise, but alas it was all for naught, as the entire thing is being rebooted later this year. Deadpool

Deadpool: Directed by Tim Miller. With Ryan Reynolds, Karan Soni, Ed Skrein, Michael Benyaer. A wisecracking mercenary gets experimented on and becomes immortal but ugly, and sets out to track down the man who ruined his looks. I finally own this on a physical disk and my Stan Lee collection grew by one! I think this is the only movie that Stan was ever in featuring nudity with him in the same shot as boobs. I like boobs! The Mandalorian Season 3

The Mandalorian: Created by Jon Favreau. With Pedro Pascal, Chris Bartlett, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers. The travels of a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. The strongest season of one of the strongest science fiction series currently on tv. I loved nearly every moment of season three and really look forward to what season 4 brings. Of course, there’s going to be like two other series between now and then, so I’m looking forward to that too. Buy On Amazon!

Star Trek: Picard Season 3

Star Trek: Picard: Created by Kirsten Beyer, Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman. With Patrick Stewart, Michelle Hurd, Jeri Ryan, Alison Pill. Follow-up series to Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) and Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) that centers on Jean-Luc Picard in the next chapter of his life. Season three has come and gone and while it was 100% fan service with a heaping helping of nostalgia, it worked for me in most regards. I still have some issues with the naming of the final ship seen, and it felt silly to have that “old friend” show up in the...

Avatar: The Way of Water

Avatar: The Way of Water: Directed by James Cameron. With Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang. Jake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the extrasolar moon Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their home. This is a much better experience at home, where I have the technology that’s up to the task of showing whatever crazy framerate it is that this movie comes with. The local AMC was pretty bad at that particular task with all...

I’ve lost about 40 pounds and am now under 290!

I’ve been comfortably living my life since high school (1999!) at around 315 – 330 pounds, then a medical thing came up and it turns out that I’m supposed to be like…100 pounds less than that.  So I’ve been on a weight loss “journey” which essentially meant to me that I’m giving up red meat, eating 10 times the amount of veggies than meat, no refined sugar, and I’ve completely dropped coffee from my daily routine.  Honestly that coffee thing was a long time coming because I’m so super sensitive to caffeine, just walking past a pot will wake me...
