“Lessons in Chemistry” Review

In the 1950s, Elizabeth Zott’s dream of being a scientist is challenged by a society that says women belong in the domestic sphere. She accepts a job on a TV cooking show and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives way more than recipes.

I was hoping for a light hearted story when I first started watching this with my wife, but there are some very heavy topics covered in the first 3 episodes and it made us put the entire thing on the “maybe when we have time” list. I finally watched it solo and the end result is a fantastic story, but it’s definitely not for the light of heart. Brie Larson plays the character perfectly and seems like it was tailor made for her, so good on her for making such a good role selection.
