Superman: Under a Yellow Sun

Clark Kent struggles with a book he’s writing while Superman takes on a garbage problem from Lex Luthor. I pulled this from the $1 bin at my local comic shop and it’s worth at least that much to read just once, there’s some great art and a story that’s pretty different from the Superman stuff we’re getting lately. He’s a more grounded character, with a more grounded supporting cast and the story is far slower than a modern book at well, with some space left for the story to properly develop. The Lex Luthor portion of the story is pretty...

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet. With Melissa Navia, Christina Chong, Anson Mount, Ethan Peck. A prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, the show follows the crew of the USS Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike. With season 2 starting up in just a few days, I figured I’d go back through season 1 to remind myself how utterly amazing it ended up being and how big my expectations are for the future of this franchise. It’s a short season with only 10 episodes and there isn’t a single stinker in the whole...

I bought some stuff

BEHOLD: MY STUFF bought for super cheap, the only 90’s Trek that I don’t own on physical media now is DS9.  That being said, those are DVDs of Enterprise, which they’ve also released it on Blu-Ray, so I’ll see if I can grab that for super cheap like these were. I kick startered a thing!  I haven’t watched it yet, but I love this guy’s work, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m in the (very slow) process of replacing my HD-DVD collection, all while building a Stan Lee, Kevin Smith, and Glenda Farrell collection, Speaking of Glenda, this was...

The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid: Directed by Rob Marshall. With Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem. A young mermaid makes a deal with a sea witch to trade her beautiful voice for human legs so she can discover the world above water and impress a prince. This is likely the second best live action adaptation of a Disney film that I’ve seen yet, with Jungle Book still at the top because of how much I liked the new stuff they introduced to the film. Disney has gone both routes with these adaptions, with some of them introducing too much new...

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson. With Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Luna Lauren Velez. Miles Morales catapults across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero. Should you see this film? Absolutely. it’s as good as the first one and hits just as hard, and has about 300 recognizable versions of Spider-man. Do I have some complaints? Yes, but none so large...

She Said

She Said: Directed by Maria Schrader. With Lola Petticrew, Katherine Laheen, Zoe Kazan, Carey Mulligan. New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor break one of the most important stories in a generation – a story that helped ignite a movement and shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood. An emotionally exhausting but somehow still dry account of the recent scandal that burned through Hollywood, starting with film producer Harvey Weinstein. All the pieces are there and you’ll welcome to watch, but there’s not a whole lot of new or groundbreaking content to be...

Star Trek: Manifest Destiny

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the STAR TREK franchise with this all-new adventure! At the edge of explored space, Captain Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise come face to face with a new Klingon threat… with the fate of the galaxy at stake! Also includes the Klingon Language version of issue #1! Having an entire issue of the series in Klingon is a neat gimmick, but even as deep as I am into Trek, I still don’t know how to read a single word in the language. “Manifest Destiny” is a Kelvinverse story with a focus on...

I went to the Leon Sinks

I think this was the first hike I’ve ever taken of my own volition and it wasn’t bad at all.  There was very limited verticality and lots of solid ground to walk on with only a very limited sugar sand situation.  We did see other people, which was terrible, but I guess that’s the price I pay for living in a society, right?

A ton of things, it’s been too long, so here’s a non-descriptive title!

This was good, but super sweet.  I was hoping for more sour, but it was good for what I needed at the time. I added yet another screen to my office setup, this one is to more better monitor twitch chatter when I’m doing the twitch thing.  I can also just take it down and use it to read comic books. Odo testing out the new setup.  He doesn’t care about the screen. I dropped a tool on my foot and my god it stung.  I then proceeded to do a ton of yard work with no pain whatsoever, but...
