“Iron Man: Armored Adventures” Review
A teenage Tony Stark battles evil with his revolutionary power armor technology.
I added this to my D+ watch list back in 2022 based solely on some Reddit comments on how “hard” the main theme “slaps”:
The theme does indeed go hard for a kid’s cartoon and is catchy enough to remain in my mind rent free for longer than I’m happy to admit. Originally airing back in 2008, both of the seasons are now fully on D+ and complete a full story arc of Tony’s loss of his father to him becoming the super hero we all know him to be, all while trying to navigate his time in high school. Episodes range from pretty ok to pretty damn good and the animation style is visually interesting, especially when they start featuring opponents like the Living Laser or MODOK.
As an aside, back in February about six months ago, I had a health scare that resulted in me needing to lose a fair bit of weight and get to be more active in a relatively quick time frame. My choice of torture was the treadmill that was sitting fallow in our tiny home gym / wife’s office / cat room / storage room, and this was the first show in my entire life that I watched completely from the ever increasing incline and speed of the treadmill deck. When I started the show I was doing 0% incline at 2mph for the full 25 minute episode length and worked my way up to 9% incline at 3mph. I’ve been stuck there for about a month and I’ve definitely watched other stuff from the treadmill vantage point, but I’m super proud of both my loss of 70 pounds and increase in activity level from pretty much nothing (under 1k steps a day on average) to pretty much something (6k+ steps a day).
Now I’m at a loss on what show to move onto next, 25 minutes is the perfect length for me on the machine, as it gives me the 25 minute workout then about five minutes on pandora to cool down. Maybe another animated show?
