The Flash

The Flash: Directed by Andy Muschietti. With Sasha Calle, Ben Affleck, Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton. Barry Allen uses his super speed to change the past, but his attempt to save his family creates a world without super heroes, forcing him to race for his life in order to save the future.

I believe this is the 5th…maybe 6th movie or television series that I’ve seen in the last couple years that deals with multiverses and transdimensional time travel shenanigans and I’m honestly just tired of the entire concept. The quicker we can get past all these attempts to tie together 50+ years of comic book multimedia to a single nostalgic fangasm of 3-4 hours in length, the better. This is by no means a bad film, I enjoyed nearly every aspect of it, just remember to leave behind your knowledge of Ezra Miller’s insane shenanigans out in the real world. This is the first time in decades that we’ve seen a Supergirl on the screen with Sasha Calle doing an impressive job and I wish we’d be able to see more of her in the role, but this is the penultimate DCU movie in this timeline. That’s not to say she couldn’t come back for the inevitable future Supergirls, but it’s pretty unlikely from my understanding of what the new DCU boss James Gunn has said.

If you saw Batman hit the silver screen back in 1989 I’m sure you’re going to get a huge kick out of what’s in The Flash. If you’re a fan of The Flash tv series, unfortunately that crossover only went one way.

Here’s hoping that the new DCU can keep the ok momentum going and improve on the ok stuff we’ve gotten in the last couple years, maybe we’ll get something that’s heart achingly good.
