“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” Review

Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Directed by Jeff Fowler. With Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance.

Sonic 3 isn’t as good as the first two, but is still good enough that I’m happy I own this due to my corporate spam sellout. It’s much more goofy than the prior two and is missing some of the emotional investment that I had in the series, as I had stopped playing the games by the time Shadow had come around, but it’s great to see they’re staying so close to the games. There’s an after credit scene that shows they’re going to keep up this trend for the next 10 or 15 movies, for better or worse. If you’re familiar with the insanity of the game stories that came out after Shadow, you’ll know what “for worse” means!
