“House of the Dragon” Season 2 Review

The Targaryen dynasty is at the absolute apex of its power, with more than 15 dragons under their yoke. Most empires crumble from such heights. In the case of the Targaryens, their slow fall begins when King Viserys breaks with a century of tradition by naming his daughter Rhaenyra heir to the Iron Throne. But when Viserys later fathers a son, the court is shocked when Rhaenyra retains her status as his heir, and seeds of division sow friction across the realm.

After the brutal first season I kept finding reasons to not watch the second one and here I am nearly 2 years later and I finally watched it. The second season has no baby deaths I’m happy to see, that was one of the reasons that I felt so put off by the first season, and the violence of this season is much more on par with the original Game of Thrones series. One thing that this season did very well was show how the house divided was divided even further on both sides, and one side is given glimpses of things to come, things that we’ve already seen on TV. It was well enough done that I think I’ll be able to watch season 3 as it comes out instead of putting it off another two years.
