Directed by Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead. With Anthony Mackie, Jamie Dornan, Katie Aselton, Ally Ioannides. Two New Orleans paramedics’ lives are ripped apart after they encounter a series of horrific deaths linked to a designer drug with bizarre, otherworldly effects.
Time travel movies generally don’t have much to add to the trope, either events can be effected by time travel or they can’t, but Syncheonic leands a couple new wrinkles to the standard “man goes through time” story. Much to it’s credit, something that could in theory feel like well trod on story elements are given a patina that is ultimately quite pleasing.
Oddly I think this was this second movie I watched this past weekend with Anthony Mackie in the lead, I’m definitely becoming a fan of his work. To think, I was introduced to him in the role of a bird man that goes by the name of “Falcon” in a comic book film!
